Proxy User FAQs

Students can grant access to certain portions of their academic records to individuals known as proxy users. Through myNMSU, students can create proxy user accounts and assign access to specific pages within myNMSU. This will allow proxy users to view Registration, Financial Aid, Student Account Info, Tax Form 1098T and more.
Anyone with a valid email address can be granted Proxy Access including parents, guardians, or spouses. The student has complete control over who has access, what information the proxy user has access to, and the length of time for which the user has access.

Several links and documents are available to walk you through Proxy Access. Please click on the appropriate link below.

The simple answer is whatever the student grants you access to. Currently, students can choose from options within the following categories: Financial Aid, Registration, Student Account, and Student Records. Their choices include Financial Aid Academic Progress, Student Account Statement and Payment History, and Student Records Final Grades just to name a few. However, it is completely up to the student as to which pages you are granted access.
Yes. Each student who grants proxy access to an e-mail address has complete control over the information that is authorized. For example, one student may grant only Statement History and Pay NMSU; while another student may grant all access to Registration, Financial Aid, Student Account Info, and Student Records.
Yes. Proxies are identified by e-mail address, and multiple students can use the same address for the proxy. This is particularly useful in the case of siblings attending NMSU. For example, a proxy’s e-mail address might be proxyparent@gmail.com. Multiple students can assign that address as their proxy.
No. Each person designated as a proxy is required to have a separate, unique email address.

  • not completed the process of granting you proxy access; they can view the instructions at Student Instructions.
  • or used a different email address to grant you proxy access; they need to update your email address with the same address as the first student used.
By default, access is granted for five years. However, students have complete control over the window during which you have access and can change that window at any time. If you log into the system and no longer see a tab with the student’s name on it, the student may have revoked your access.
