Payment Plan
Important Information for those enrolled in the Payment Plan.
- A $10.00 fee will be assessed for any missing, late, or partial Payment Plan payment
*** For those who choose not to enroll in the Payment Plan by the deadline and have a current semester balance of $200 or more ... ***
- A $25.00 Account Maintenance Fee will be assessed
- A 0.5% Account Balance Service Fee will be assessed on the current semester balance on a monthly basis. For example, for the Fall 2024 semester, a 0.5% Account Balance Service Fee will be assessed on 9/16/24, 10/16/24, 11/16/24, and 12/16/24 (or on the next business day). For the Spring 2025 semester, a 0.5% Account Balance Service Fee will be assessed on 2/16/25, 3/16/25, 4/16/25 and 5/16/25 (or on the next business day).
Paying for a college education is one of the first major financial decisions a student will make. The payment plan has scheduled payment installments designed to help a student manage the costs and pay balances by the end of the semester.

- Students are encouraged to enroll in the payment plan when the current semester outstanding balance is $200 or more.
- Each payment plan is semester-specific.
- Payment plans are only available to students enrolled in the current semester.
Enroll in the Payment Plan by the enrollment deadline date.
For the Fall 2024 semester, payment plan enrollment opens on July 16, 2024.

- The deadline to enroll in the Fall 2024 payment plan is September 13, 2024.
- There will be a $10 fee charged to a student’s account for each late, partial, or missed Payment Plan payment.
For the Spring 2025 semester, payment plan enrollment opens on December 16, 2024

- The deadline to enroll in the Spring 2025 payment plan is January 31, 2025.
- There will be a $10 fee charged to a student’s account for each late, partial, or missed Payment Plan payment.
- Fall and Spring semester payment plans will have five payments and the Summer semester plan will have three payments.
- The remaining payments will be due by the 15th of each month.

- Payment amounts are subject to change if any charges or credits post after enrolling in the Payment Plan.
- Enrollment in the current semester at New Mexico State University requires the prior semester balance to be under $600 at time of course registration for subsequent semesters.

IMPORTANT: The Payment Plan is not the same as Auto Payment. Once enrolled in the Payment Plan, the student or proxy will have to actively make the remaining payments by the due dates or schedule the payments with an Auto Payment. Auto Payments are scheduled by going to https://pay.nmsu.edu . Once logged in, select 'Auto Pay' in the upper left-hand corner. Then select 'Sign up' under the heading NMSU Auto Payment, and follow the prompts.
Federal Financial Aid
Students should complete any requirements to receive financial aid as soon as possible to ensure awarded funds are available to use toward their financial charges.
- Students who have not completed their financial aid arrangements in time to receive their awards by the due date MAY need to enroll in a payment plan.
